March 2022
The Bragg St Park in Hackett is getting recognition for the volunteer-backed efforts to transform a steep dustbowl with a lot of water runoff into a thriving park with 7 interesting and practical water swales to capture and hold water. It is great to see the Canberra community, and key people with influence on the environmental action of the city, such as Environment Minister Rebecca Vassarotti MLA, and ACT Commissioner for Sustainability and the Environment Dr Sophie Lewis, being interested in projects like these. Director Paul Barnett and frequent project partner Paul Totterdel are honoured to have contributed their time and efforts to enhance this wonderful community park.
With the unpredictable weather becoming more and more common, our Canberra landscapes will greatly benefit from having appropriate resources to help them continue to provide pleasant outdoor spaces for us to use. We are glad to see the government grants supporting community groups and hope to see more of these efforts to improve natural landscapes using natural techniques like naturescapes and waterharvesting.
