2021 December
Thank you to Canberra College principal Michael Battenally and the school for inviting us to the Commissioning of the Innovation Pavilion. The design concept of the space was for the school to accommodate the increasing demand for STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics), and to provide facilities that would encourage creativity and inspiration. Now that this space is finally finished, students will be able to use it as a STEM room, for design, discussions and oral presentations, and school competitions and club groups.
Innovation “Pavilion”- “dream big”
A pavilion is a structural design making use of the simple volumes, linear geometries, and an honest use of materials. The architects have designed rectangular box-like volumes that are in the context of the local environment and angled to frame views of local surroundings.
“Dream big” is a maxim that reflects how the Innovation Pavilion can be a special place where learners can spend time with their big dreams and ideas. Through collaboration, communication, and creativity as modes of learning, students and teachers can work together with purpose.
