Collaborating with Maribyrnong Primary School Principal Andrew Buesnel and the school team, PBDG is preparing the design and other processes to start stage 4 of the master plan! This corner of the school has a one-metre fall towards the fence that is barely visible to the eye. With all the shade from the trees in this area, the rainwater that gathers does not dry up quickly, leading to muddy shoes and dirty classroom carpets. The school would like this to be an all-year-round playspace, so our design will focus on redirecting water, holding the water intentionally in a wetland, and creating mounds to increase the height of the land. We imagine rocks, logs, a tunnel, and even a natural bridge over the wetland area. We will keep you posted on the progress!
Back in 2020, PBDG worked with Maribyrnong Primary School Students Parents and Staff through many consultations and workshop sessions to produce the School Masterplan. Stage by stage, the school is transforming from multiple dust patches of play spaces to natural oases for children’s growth.
