PBDG has entered the preliminary discussion for a Dickson Shops Revitalisation Masterplan Project. The goal of the redesign is to create a high-quality, safe, human-centred, ecological, inclusive, and aesthetic public space suitable for leisure and play for all ages. There will be proposal guidelines and specific construction details for the overall improvement of sidewalks and bicycle lanes that are vital artery paths for local Canberran cyclists and “scooterists”.
Not only is attention to the improvement of the human environment important, but the ecological and hydrophilic space in Dickson could also be enhanced. It will be beneficial to gradually reduce the hard pavement from the current 70% coverage in the area, and increase the natural green coverage rate.
There must be a change in the built environment design to suit our post-pandemic lifestyle and mitigate the ongoing climate crisis.
